Pdfora: PDF Scanner & Reader — Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Pdfora apps for Android and iPhone (package and bundle ID com.pdfora.scanner) handle and why. Where the iPhone app differs, it is described under iPhone app.

Your documents stay on your device

Scanning, PDF reading, JPG ⇄ PDF conversion, text recognition (OCR), merging, splitting, compressing and password protection all run on your phone. Your photos, scans, PDF files and recognized text are not uploaded to our servers, and we do not have access to them. Files leave your device only when you choose to share or save them to another app or service.

No account

The app has no sign-up or login and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.

Analytics

To understand which features are used and to fix problems, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It collects:

• app interactions, such as which tool was opened or that a scan or conversion was completed (never the content of your files);
• diagnostics, such as app version, device model, OS version and performance data;
• device identifiers, such as the Firebase app instance ID and the Android advertising ID.

The app also uses Firebase Crashlytics. If the app crashes, it sends a crash report with the stack trace, app version, device model, OS version and a random installation ID. Crash reports never include the content or names of your files.

This data is used to understand and improve the app. It is sent over encrypted connections. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Advertising

The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob: a banner on the home screen and, at limited frequency, a full-screen ad after a tool has finished. Ads are not shown in the PDF reader, and the content, names or text of your documents are never used for ads or sent to ad networks.

To deliver ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google and its partners may collect the Android advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and interactions with ads. Depending on your choices and your region, ads may be personalized.

In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and other regions where it is required, the app asks for your consent through a Google consent form before ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time with "Ad privacy settings" at the bottom of the home screen. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). Google Play services

The document scanner and text recognition use Google ML Kit through Google Play services. Processing happens on the device; Google may collect limited diagnostic information about ML Kit usage as described in its own terms.

iPhone app

The iPhone app works the same way, with these differences:

• The document scanner and text recognition use Apple's VisionKit and Vision frameworks, which run on the device.
• The app does not ask for permission to track you and does not access the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA). Analytics and ads use the Firebase app instance ID and the identifier for vendor (IDFV) instead.
• To measure which ad campaigns led to an install, the app uses Singular. Singular receives the identifier for vendor, device and app information, IP address, the Apple Ads attribution token and SKAdNetwork postbacks. It does not receive the content or names of your files. • The app asks for camera access to scan documents and for permission to add photos only when you export pages as JPG to your photo library.

Permissions

The camera is used only to scan documents when you start a scan. Storage access is used only to open the files you pick and to save the files you create.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Data retention and deletion

Files you create are stored on your device and can be deleted by you at any time. Uninstalling the app removes its local data. Analytics and advertising data is kept by Google under its own retention settings and is not linked by us to your name or any account.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
